If you are a smartphone user and you want to send your mail item abroad, you would not need to wait in a long line at post office counter any more. Moreover, you can get a 10% discount as well.

Korea Post will introduce the EMS Smart Postage System in May, which enable customers directly to make postage after entering necessary information on the Korea Post smartphone app.

What customers should do is only to show the mobile barcode provided by the Korea Post app based on the data they input in advance. There is no need of manually preparing an address label.

If you choose to enter your credit card information on the app, you don’t need to make payment at post office counter, instead just submit your item with the item number and phone number on it. Payment will be automatically made from your credit card, with the postage results to be sent via SMS.

A special promotion event for the Smart Postage System will be held: providing a 10% discount in EMS price by December 31 to the customers posting an item through this system.

“We will further extend this Smart Postage System to improve our customer convenience,” said Korea Post President Kim Kee-deok.
